Winder

By Frederik Drost

A winder is a device used to keep a mechanical watch running when not in use. It is usually a box with a motor and a set of winding arms that can be set to different settings for different types of watches. The winder rotates the watch, simulating the natural movements of the wearer’s wrist, and ensuring that it is kept wound, providing it with a consistent power source. Winders are used to preserve the accuracy and the life of a mechanical watch.
