Regulator

By Frederik Drost

Regulator watches are timepieces that have a unique three-dial design, with each dial representing a different function, such as seconds, minutes, and hours. On the face of the watch, the seconds and minutes are usually displayed on a subdial, while the hour display is usually the largest dial and the most prominent feature of the watch. The design of the regulator watch originates in the 18th century, when clocks were designed with the same three-dial format to more accurately tell the time. Today, regulator watches are still sought after by collectors and horological enthusiasts alike, and can be found in classic and modern styles.
