Winding mechanism

By Frederik Drost

A winding mechanism is a device used to manually power a clock or watch. It consists of a spring, a toothed wheel, and a winding stemstem. The spring is connected to the winding stem and the toothed wheel. Turning the winding stem tightens the spring, which stores energy. When the watch is in use, the spring releases energy, powering the watch. The winding mechanism is essential to the functionality of a clock or watch, as it provides the power that keeps the timepiece ticking.
