The Jacket Maker Review – Affordable Leather Jackets

Today, I’m excited to introduce and review a jacket from an online store called The Jacket Maker. As the name suggests, they specialize in jackets—specifically leather ones—and offer an impressive variety to choose from.

If you’re even slightly into fashion, you know that a leather jacket is a must-have staple in any wardrobe. Personally, I own several, ranging from heavy, fur-lined options for winter to lighter styles perfect for autumn and spring.

Let’s dive into what The Jacket Maker has to offer and see if their products are worth your investment. Ill be doing that by reviewing the Airin G-1 Black Leather Bomber Jacket.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Well constructed jacket
  • Buttons are sown well onto the jacket
  • YKK quality zipper
  • Anchored buttons
  • Removable faux-fur collar
  • Great quality waistband and cuff material

Cons

  • Leather could be better
  • Faux-fur collar could be slightly better

The brand

The Jacket Maker positions itself between fast fashion and luxury brands, offering high-quality leather jackets at more accessible prices.

Standard jackets typically range from $250 to $300, with custom options slightly higher.

What I really love about The Jacket Maker is their extensive selection of jackets. Whether you’re into biker jackets, shearling styles, leather blazers, or varsity jackets with leather accents, they’ve got something for everyone. No matter your preference, they have it covered!

Another thing that is nice is the option to get them custom-made for your size.

Packaging

The jacket arrived neatly folded in a compact travel pouch, similar to a suit cover but smaller.

As a bonus, they included a car air freshener shaped like a leather jacket—such a cool detail!

To top it off, a small leather notebook was also tucked inside the package, adding a thoughtful and classy touch.

Design

Most of The Jacket Maker’s designs lean towards classic styles, which is exactly what you’d expect from a brand specializing in leather jackets.

The one I received stays true to this timeless appeal but adds a modern twist. It’s essentially a bomber jacket featuring a removable faux fur collar, offering versatility for different seasons.

A detachable faux-fur collar is a great touch! Switch between winter and summer easily.

There’s not much else to say about the design, except that I really appreciate the large front pockets and the ability to detach the fur collar, making it perfect for the warmer months of spring and autumn.

Quality

The jacketmaker leather jacket review

When it comes to the construction of this jacket, it’s clear that a skilled jacket maker was behind its design. The linings are well done, the pieces come together seamlessly, and it fits my body perfectly. I have zero complaints in this department.

The waistband and cuffs are exceptionally well-made, offering a nice, thick feel. They’re elastic yet sturdy, returning to their original shape with ease, and they’re also quite soft, adding to the overall comfort.

The jacket also features two inside pockets on each side, which are anchored at the bottom. This thoughtful design ensures they stay in place and don’t pull out when you retrieve something from them—a practical and well-executed detail.

The buttons on this jacket are securely sewn, with no issues at all—great attention to detail here.

As for the zipper, it’s a YKK, which is a well-known brand for durability and reliability. If you’re familiar with YKK, you’ll know their zippers are built to last and perform smoothly over time.

As for the leather, it’s what you would expect given the price point, which is an important factor to consider. If you’ve ever handled a €2000 leather jacket, you’ll notice a difference compared to one priced at €250—but that’s completely understandable. It all comes down to your budget and what you value most.

I did check out some older reviews of The Jacket Maker, and there were complaints about low-quality leather and unpleasant smells. I must say, when I opened my package, the leather smelled normal and felt good. It seems like the brand may have listened to feedback and improved the quality of its materials.

One potential area for improvement could be the faux fur collar. While the black version might hide its quality well, other colors might make the synthetic nature more noticeable. That said, if you’re only after a full leather jacket, this critique doesn’t really apply.

Finally, the lining is some sort of nylon textile, which is not impressive, but i wouldn’t expect anything more from jackets in this price range.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this jacket, especially at this price. If a mid-tier brand puts its label on it, it could easily sell for €100–€200 more without any additional justification.

Sizing

It’s crucial to note that their sizes run smaller than what you’d typically expect from a standard European store.

I’m 193 cm tall, weigh just over 100 kilos, and have a relatively muscular build (despite working out very little). I had to order a 4XL, and if you’re bigger than me, they might not even have your size. Keep in mind, I prefer my jackets to have a looser fit, so I could probably have managed with a 3XL.

In general, I recommend going one size up if you like a tight fit and two sizes up if you prefer a looser fit.

Conclusion

Overall, The Jacket Maker offers an impressive range of classic and modern leather jackets for men that are well-constructed for their price point.

While there are a few areas that could be improved, they’re minor enough to overlook given the affordability and the option for custom sizing at this price—a feature that’s hard to find elsewhere.

I’d definitely recommend this brand to those who aren’t overly focused on premium quality but still want a stylish leather jacket or two without spending a fortune. Sure, some people prefer to save up €2000 for a top-tier leather jacket, but I’m not one of them. I’d rather put that money toward a great watch—if you haven’t noticed, that’s a recurring theme here!
